Altar Guild
Description: Help prepare the altar for the preaching of the Word and administration of the sacraments. In addition, there are other activities, including decorating the sanctuary for Christmas and Easter.
Age requirement: Adult
Time commitment: Serve with your team 1-2 hours, app. Every three weeks on a rotating basis
Audio/Visual Worship Team
Description: Join the AV team in the balcony during worship on Saturdays or Sundays. Learn to operate sound, projection, and camera for worship services.
Age requirement: Jr. high and up
Time commitment: 1-2 times/month for 1-2 hours
Care calls & Care visitation team
Description: Make phone calls and/or visits to homebound members to check on status and report on assistance as needed.
Age requirement: Adult
Time commitment: As needed
Choir
Description: If you love to sing, this is the group for you. Sing a variety of music for worship and for our special services. No prior experience needed.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: Rehearsals on Wednesday evenings Fall through Spring. Sing at occasional worship services and holidays
Church office volunteer
Description: Assist the church office staff with occasional/special projects.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: As needed
Cleaning
Description: Straighten up children’s Grace Space, check for items left behind after worship, fill giving envelopes, arrange bibles in pews, and straighten up Nursery room.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: 1-2 hours on Monday mornings
Community Meals
Description: Assist with set-up, serving, and clean up as we serve our community a home- cooked meal along with Christian fellowship.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: 1-3 hours monthly
Community Paint-a-thon
Description: A unique community partnership designed to paint the exterior of homes owned and occupied by persons with limited financial resources, who are at least 60 years of age, a veteran, or have a permanent disability, making them unable to do the work themselves.
Age requirement: 14 and up
Time commitment: 1-2 days (One day scraping, cleaning and prep, and the following weekend for painting)
Fellowship coffee (HeBrews Café)
Description: Set up the coffee cart with fresh-made coffee and pre-packaged snacks on Sunday mornings after worship. Coffee provided.
Age requirement: Adult
Time commitment: 1-2 hours, 2-3 times/yr.
Funeral Meal Ministry
Description: Assist with preparations for funeral luncheons with either donation of food (salads, desserts) or helping with set-up, serving, or clean-up.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: As needed
Gardening
Description: Assist with planting, weeding, watering, and maintaining all flower beds on the property.
Age requirement: Jr. high and up
Time commitment: 1-2 hours, as needed, seasonal
Good Samaritan food pantry
Description: Assist with sorting and stocking shelves with donated food items.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: 1-2 hours as able
Good Samaritan Ministries (Clothing ministry)
Description: Assist with sorting and stocking shelves with donated clothing and household items. Also help with community sales.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: Tuesdays 1-3 p.m. as able, sales are held several times throughout the year
Greeter
Description: Greet people as they come for worship on Saturdays or Sundays. Assist with electronic check-in if needed.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: 1-2 hours on Saturdays or Sundays as able
Holiday food donations
Description: Assisting to pick up donations from local food stores.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: As needed (may be short notice)
L.E.R.T.
Description: Lutheran Early Response Team is geared towards responding to a disaster with Lutheran Church Charities in northern Illinois (some volunteers serve nationwide). We encourage anyone wanting to be L.E.R.T. certified to attend a training in their own district whenever possible. Online Basic L.E.R.T. Training is being offered as an alternative means due to COVID restrictions. To better manage volunteers and resources, FEMA has developed a guideline on credentialing volunteers for large-scale disasters. The federal guidelines indicate that volunteers responding to a disaster should be trained and certified. More information can be found at https://www.lutheranchurchcharities.org/dr-training.html

Inventory counting (American Heritage Girls)
Description: Assist American Heritage leader with organizing donations given throughout the year for Operation Christmas Child.
Age requirement: Jr. high and up
Time commitment: 1 hour/week as needed
Music library team
Description: File, copy and pull choir music for our Director of Music.
Age requirement: High school and up
Time commitment: 1-2 hours/week as able
Music Ministry
Description: Instrumentalist and vocalists needed to assist with enhancing all worship services, also with the Praise Band or during holidays for special services.
Age requirement: Jr. high and up
Time commitment: Occasional rehearsals depending on service
Properties (repairs as needed)
Description: Assist with minor building repairs, painting, etc.
Age requirement: Jr. high and up

Scripture reader in worship services
Description: Read the designated scriptures during worship services.
Age requirement: Jr. high and up
Time commitment: Saturday evening and Sunday mornings as needed
School office volunteer
Description: Assist the school office staff with occasional/special projects.

Shining Stars Baseball Camp
Description: Assist with on-field events, snacks, and sign-in.
Age requirement: Jr. high and up
Time commitment: 1-5 days
Small group bible study leader
Description: Prepare for and lead small group bible study sessions. Choose own discussion series or the church office can assist with topics.
Age requirement: Adult
Time commitment: Weekly group plus preparation time
Usher
Description: Assist the elders during worship, guide worshipers to communion.
Age requirement: Jr. high and up
Time commitment: One Saturday or Sunday approximately every 6 weeks
Vacation Bible School
Description: Leader, teachers and aides needed to plan, organize, teach, and assist with summer bible school program in the classroom, with snacks, or arts and crafts.
Age requirement: Jr. high and up
Time commitment: One week to several months depending on the position
