Meal Ministry
The Meal Ministry is Coming Back!
We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to cook a meal for church members who are in need of temporary assistance (i.e. due to illness, injury, death in the family, etc.). You do not need to commit for every time, only when you are able.
Please contact Linda Stammer in the church office at lstammer@ilcp.org or (847)359-1549 if you are interested in being on our “on-call” list.
Gift cards to local restaurants also accepted. Please drop off in the church office.
Thank you for being willing to help fellow Immanuel members!
What is Meal Ministry?
The Meal Ministry is under the umbrella of Care Ministry. Its mission is to serve those who are in need of extra assistance at critical times. Our meal ministry is open to anyone who loves to cook and has a heart for serving others. Actually – it’s open to anyone! There are options for people who don’t cook – picking up a meal at the grocery store deli or ordering a pizza for example.
How does it work?
Servers are called when a member is in need of some extra cooking during a difficult time or recovery from an illness.
What do Servers do?
Servers are asked to prepare a well balanced meal and deliver it to the family. A schedule is usually made up and you are notified of what day and all of the particulars that are involved with the family (such as number of people, allergies, food preferences, etc.)
Meal Ministry Tips
- Remember that it doesn’t have to be a homemade meal. Rotisserie chicken and vegetables from the store can still be a blessing!
- Soup and lasagna are the most common meals to bring because they taste so good, they’re the easiest to make, and they travel well.
- A frozen meal can be set aside for when it’s most convenient.
- Many families prefer familiar meals rather than “fancy” ones.
